| For years I was searching for an
ideal
sock yarn -- one spun from extra long stapled, 100% natural and renewal
fibers, flame resistant, insulating, warm and durable. A yarn
that would allow moisture to wick away from my skin and insulate even
when wet. A yarn that wouldn't itch. A sock
yarn that is a pleasure to knit with and allows my creations to last
through a season or two of regular wearing, or even longer... We had our own Kick-A-Dee TM Sock Yarn custom mill spun for us with extra twist for durability. It is spun worsted-style from extra long stapled young adult mohair, merino lamb and tussah silk. It has all the qualities of my ideal sock yarn and feels wonderful to knit with and to wear. The hand dyed colourways glow and the final sock fabric is smooth, full of body, yet still soft for next to the skin wear. It is more substantial and luxurious than commercial sock yarn, and since it uses 100% natural fibers it is also kinder to the environment. You will feel the difference as soon as you knit with it. Each of our limited edition, hand dyed colourways are dyed with eco-friendly natural dyes, in small 450gram batches (1 lb.)--enough for 2 pairs of socks. Approx. 950 yds per lb. The dyeing process is more demanding and time consuming but the depth and shimmer of the colours are more beautiful and enduring.
